Turkey's elite double in Balkan XC

Turkey hosted lowly-attended 58th Balkan Cross Championships in Kocaeli, while they clinched both elite titles simultaneously in first time.

Turkey's elite double in Balkan XC
Balkan Cross Championships held in Darica distinct of Kocaeli, 100-km east from Istanbul, as six of 15 association members participated. The championships dominated by Turkish runners, have three individual and five team gold in there.  Since first edition in 1940, Turkey clinched first 'double crown' in elite races simultaneously.

Host country won 14 individual titles in Balkan XC, including two of them at women's competition, but they never obtained that golds in same venue. In elite races, Vedat Günen and Zurich steeplechase finalist Ozlem Kaya crossed the finish line first.

Apart from elite races, also two other disciplines held in Darica course. At U23 competition, Mitko Tsenov of Bulgaria and talented Serbian Amela Terzic won Balkan titles, while junior podiums swept by Romania (women) and Turkey (men). Here is the full podiums of the 58th Balkan Cross:
